The EVENT is near

Twelve days to go and yet, still, I can't wait for it to happen. The Event will definitely happen; championship fight between pound-for-pound king Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey, as I've said before, will be an exciting fight to see. Coming from the Dallas Cowboys' stadium, on the 13th of this month, who wouldn't watch? Mayweather fans?

Clottey is more than ready for Pacquiao

"We have a game plan which will give Pacquiao a lot of problems," Joshua Clottey said. Is he more than ready for his upcoming title fight against pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao?

Well, Clottey said he is in top condition for the March 13 fight at the Dallas Cowboys' stadium. "I've worked hard for weeks in Florida," the Ghana native said. He even claimed that the Pacman is not unbeatable and is worried about the size and strength advantage he got.

Just one thing Joshua, it's not over till it's done.

Will Pacquiao be victorious again?

Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao has won his last 11 fights, had achieved a record-breaking seven titles in different weight classes, has been named by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) as 2009 fighter of the year, has been named 'fighter of the decade' also by the BWAA, had pursed millions of dollars; would there be more for the Filipino pride?

Pacquiao is set to fight Ghana native, Joshua Clottey, this coming March 13 at the Dallas Cowboy's Stadium in Texas and [definitely] a lot of people will be waiting for 'The Event'; much ado about the now 'theoretical' Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. Setting aside his political aspirations, will the Pacman be victorious against Clottey as he continue his journey to total greatness?

I have a feeling that Pacquiao will win this fight but not the easy way though. I'm not underestimating Clottey for he got the strength and stamina that could go the distance, there is also a chance that he could make my prediction wrong. Joshua might be the bigger man but Manny would have the power and speed along with stamina; he could be the last man standing on that ring.

Pacquiao graces Latin Fury 13/Pinoy Power 3

Welterweight champion and pound-for-pound king Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao brought his own patented Pinoy Power to Las Vegas tonight as he sat ringside at the Las Vegas Hilton for Top Rank’s “Latin Fury 13 / Pinoy Power 3” pay-per-view event. In addition to promoting his March 13 fight with Joshua Clottey, Pacquiao took the microphone to pledge support for Z Gorres, a fellow Filipino boxer who was injured in a fight in Las Vegas last November. Pacquiao and Top Rank have donated financial aid to Gorres’ cause and pledged fellow boxing fans to do the same.

Mayweather Sr. and the $40M

Floyd Mayweather, Sr. is all about the $40M purse for both fighters on the supposedly Pacquiao-Mayweather mega-fight.

“Who wouldn’t fight for that kind of money, unless they’re dumb, stupid and crazy. I think it was $40 million, something like that. They will both get that kind of money,” Mayweather, Sr. said in one of his interviews.

The father of the undefeated boxer, Floyd Mayweather, Jr., had been questioning the camp of pound-for-pound king and 7-division world champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao for not agreeing with the random blood testing (for dope usage) terms for the fight. Well, Pacquiao camp agreed to a dope-test but not days before the fight. Pacquiao got a point there, why let some blood be drained before an activity that involves more physical action. One more thing, Pacquiao also agreed for a test after the fight, wouldn't that be enough?

Mayweather Sr., so you wanted the $40M huh? You should have told your son and your team to agree with the proposed other terms.

Valero to fight Pacquiao?

Edwin Valero is hot and on the rise! He had just proved himself that he is for real after an explosive performance by defeating Antonio DeMarco to retain the World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight title. Valero, from Venezuela, showcased his boxing skills by overpowering, outboxing and outclassing DeMarco during their title fight. Valero is still undefeated with a fight record of 27W-0L with 27KOs. He is truly a knockout artist.

Valero could be considered to be the next Manny Pacquiao but he got his own styles and skills; the Pacman got his own forte too. Just after his victorious title defense, Valero said he would like to fight the pound-for-pound king of boxing, Pacquiao, and that people would definitely like to see it happen. Well, I do want it to happen.

Pacquiao-Valero would be another must-see fight if it will happen and terms are totally agreed by both fighters. Valero would definitely would go up the weights if he wants the Filipino boxer to be with him in a ring. Being in his prime, I believe Valero can keep his strength and power if ever he would be in welterweight.

Pacquiao will fight Mosley?

Four-time boxing trainer of the year, Freddie Roach, said that Manny Pacquiao will most likely face Shane Mosley if he defeats Floyd Mayweather on their May 2010 bout. The question will still be on whether the Pacquiao-Mayweather will ever happen whatever the results of the Pacquiao-Clottey and Mosley-Mayweather fights will be. Roach thought it will happen.

Though many people will consider that the Pacman will win against Joshua Clottey they should not underestimate the ability of the Ghana native. Clottey's last fight against Miguel Cotto was rather a disappointment to him; Cotto won via split-decision to which many critics said it should be the other way. Well the decision was final not unless there was a dirty-play proven, like the usage of illegal hand wraps.

Clottey is a very good boxer and a good person as well. He is a humble fighter not a trasher; same goes to Pacquiao. Much respect to both fighters. They will definitely put on a good fight this March 13.

If ever Mosley will defeat Mayweather, to which I can say that it could happen for he is capable of doing so, and he is going to face Pacquiao then it would definitely be a great matchup. Though Mosley may be the bigger fighter the Pacman got the power and speed. Also, this is what Shane always wanted, to fight the best of the best.

Pacquiao: Fighter of the Year | Figher of the Decade

Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, the pound-for-pound king who had just made a record-breaking achievement by being a champion in 7 weight classes, has been named by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) as 2009 fighter of the year. Pacquiao will be presented with his third Sugar Ray Robinson trophy on the 11th of June at the 85th annual banquet of BWAA in New York.

The Pacman had achieved his welterweight title by stopping Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto in the 12th round during their Nov. 14 fight last year. Prior to that, he won the world junior-welterweight by scoring a devastating second-round knockout of Ricky Hatton. Pacquiao's career record is 50W(38KOs)-3L-2D and hoping to add more victory by his upcoming March 13 fight against Joshua Clottey.

The Filipino boxing hero, who was also named 2009 fighter of the year by Ring Magazine and ESPN.com, was also voted as the fighter of the decade (2000-09) in a star-studded pool of great boxers nominated. The nominated group was graced by the names of Bernard hopkins, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Juan Manuel Marquez, Joe Calzaghe, Shane Mosley and Marco Antonio Barrera. Manny Pacquiao had set 24W-1L-2D during the decade and won six world titles. He's also now recognized as the pound-for-pound king and a box office sensation.
